Green Bay Packers: Turnovers Lead to Ugly Shut-Out at Home

Green Bay Packers: Turnovers Lead to Ugly Shut-Out at Home

Once again carrying the load, the Baltimore defense set the tone, making an inexperienced Green Bay offense look the part, forcing five turnovers in a 23-0 win.

The Ravens didn't rule anybody out on the final injury report for the first time all season, but Stanley's anticipated absence is a significant development. A week later brings a 23-0 shutout by the Ravens.

This was a setup game, really THE setup game - one the Ravens badly needed to set up the rest of their season and give them a real shot in the AFC wild-card race.

At 184.7 yards per game, the unit ranks third in the National Football League in pass defense.

Baltimore's average starting field position was at their own 39 yard-line or better five times in their first seven drives.

"Defense, obviously, was off the charts", Harbaugh said. The question is, 'can he play better?' That's the question I have.

With their free agency signings and draft picks this spring, the Ravens pronounced that they expected to win with defense. The run defense was stout and the pass defense mostly forced Joe Flacco to dump the ball off. The offense would be efficient, if not spectacular, but would be the beneficiary from that defensive firepower.

After appearing to make a breakthrough against Chicago, Hundley regressed against Baltimore, throwing three interceptions and losing a fumble.

The Ravens defense officially sealed the game when Humphrey got his first career interception, the fifth turnover of the game. The success of the passing game, then, will depend on a combination of a serviceable running attack as well as Hundley's ability to diagnose his options and make smart decisions with the football when he gets the chance to make a play.

Will the Baltimore Ravens and Green Bay Packers manage to hit a low total when the two meet up this Sunday at 1PM ET?

The Ravens running backs continued to be one of the more targeted weapons in the offense, as Collins (7) and Woodhead (6) led the team in targets.

"I think overall we always have confidence in our team", LB Blake Martinez said. "We want to take the next step and get above.500".

As he showed on his touchdown catch, Wallace is a playmaker on an offense with too few of them.

According to oddsmakers at, Baltimore is favored on the road, as the Ravens are getting odds of -2 points against the Packers. On those four drives the Ravens produced two field goals and two punts.

Hundley said he'll learn from his first interception, a momentum-changing play which he said arrived as a result of locking in on one target pre-snap. The Packers will need to be up to the challenge in a must-win game at Lambeau Field. But sooner or later, the Ravens inability to consistently reach the end zone when given excellent opportunities will come back to hurt them. Ty Montgomery finally got the scoreboard moving with a 37-yard touchdown run, and by the time the fourth quarter came around the Packers had a 13-6 lead that was more than enough in the end., though a Mason Crosby field goal and a bullet from Brett Hundley to Davante Adams certainly helped ease the nerves. But on the other side of the ball, the Packers never made it hard enough for the league's third-worst offense, which still kept Green Bay in the game until late because it couldn't generate its own points, and the home team never had any momentum.
