LaVar Ball downplays Donald Trump's role in UCLA freshmen's release

I've seen a lot worse things happen than a guy taking some glasses. Ball said Monday night when asked about his back-and-forth with the president.

LaVar Ball is still refusing to thank President Trump for his role in bringing his son home to the United States.

National Basketball Association insider Sam Amick says that President Trump's decision to lash out on Lavar Ball on Twitter is a big win for the Big Baller Brand.

At a briefing Monday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said President Donald Trump was merely making a "rhetorical response to a criticism" by LaVar Ball when he tweeted of Ball's son LiAngelo and two UCLA teammates that he "should have left them in jail" in China.

"As long as my boy's back here, I'm fine", Ball told ESPN.

He added that these NCAA Division I basketball players, who are attending a great university and who potentially have lucrative NBA careers ahead of them, have no business shoplifting.

Last week, Trump questioned on Twitter whether he would receive any thanks for his role in the players' release. Now if you can go back and say when he was 12 years old he was shoplifting and stealing cars and going wild, then that's a different thing.

Shoplifting is a very big deal in China, as it should be (5-10 years in jail), but not to father LaVar. Trump wrote on Twitter. After Trump, who aided in the athletes' release, felt he wasn't properly thanked by Ball, he tweeted about how he should've left the players in jail. "What was he over there for? Don't tell me nothing", LaVar Ball on Friday. "Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out".

"Who?" Ball told ESPN when asked about Trump's involvement in the matter.

"It wasn't like he was in the US and said, 'OK, there's three kids in China".

"I say thank you when I see something. Let him do his political affairs and let me handle my son, and let's just stay in our lane".

The elder Ball told CNN that he is not attacking or criticizing Trump, but he doesn't necessarily feel the need to thank him.

The rapper showed a news clip discussing Donald Trump's tweets demanding that the National Football League suspend the Oakland Raiders player, after which Snoop launched into his heated tirade.
