Arsene Wenger: What's different about Mesut Ozil at Arsenal over past month

Manchester United have been linked with a potential move to sign the German midfielder in the January transfer window or perhaps for nothing next summer.

The Citizens wanted to land Sanchez in the summer transfer window and saw a £60 million deadline day move fall through, with Arsenal failing to land the player's replacement, Thomas Lemar, from Monaco.

That won't come as any surprise, as Sanchez is available on a free-transfer next summer if, as expected, he doesn't agree a new contract with Arsenal.

Manchester City remain keen on landing the Gunners star and are said to be preparing a fresh £50million offer for the forward in January, despite Arsene Wenger's insistence that neither Sanchez or fellow contract rebel Mesut Ozil will be sold in the New Year. The way they played with desire and offensive flair reminded me of how we used to play. In my head they stay until the end of the season. As long as they are here they give their best for the club. "Unless something unbelievable happens I don't see that changes".

"Guardiola is said by sources to feel that the unbeaten Premier League leaders can do a double of domestic title and Champions League this season, so wants to press home with the purchase and add real strength in depth to his squad to seize the opportunity".

The 28 year-old, who came close to sealing a £60m deadline day move to the Etihad is starting to pick up form for Arsenal, which is ideal news for the club if they decide to part with him in January.

The Chilean forward nearly joined during the summer but the Gunners pulled the plug at the last minute as they were unable to finalise a deal for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.
