Ola cab driver allegedly molests woman passenger in Bengaluru, suspended

An Ola driver allegedly harassed a 23-year-old woman inside the vehicle in Bengaluru on Sunday afternoon.

Following the incident, when the woman tried to create a commotion and banged the windows, the cab driver let her out.

The cab driver also threatened the passenger against complaining and said that Ola doesn't pay heed to such complaints'. The incident took place at Sunday night around 10.30 pm. It was when the vehicle reached the Intermediate Ring Road that the driver allegedly attempted to sexually assault her, while she was in the backseat of the auto.

It was further reported that the cab was driven by Rajashekhar Reddy.

Making things worse, her mobile phone was also out of charge and she could not call the police. The police are said to have warned him not to call or threaten the young woman again. "We regret the unfortunate experience the customer had during her ride".

The women said that in her defence, she twisted his arm and started banging on the door after which the driver stopped misbehaving and drove to her house located in BTM Layout.

Ola said in a statement on Wednesday that it had zero tolerance to such incidents and the driver had been suspended on receiving the complaint. To save herself, the woman ran to the Ejipura traffic signal, which was 500 m from the spot.

Following the complaint by the victim, Ola has suspended the driver from its platform. Safety of customers is our priority and we will continue to extend our full support to this investigation against the said driver, "the Ola spokesperson added".

The woman, however, alleged that Ola did not inform her about the action it took against the driver. Even now they haven't told me what action has been taken.
