Dry throat caused President Donald Trump to slur his words during Wednesday's speech announcing he will move the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders insisted at Thursday's press briefing.

Her comments came after speculation fueled by Trump's speech patterns near the end of Wednesday speech in which he formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The grassroots group CREDO had garnered more than 152,000 supporters as of Thursday afternoon in its call for a federal investigation into allegations of government officials' abuses, starting with Trump's.

Trump, now 70, was the oldest president ever elected when he took the oath of office in January.

Last time Trump's physical exams were in the news was when his Manhattan doctor wrote a brief letter dominated by superlatives about the then-Republican candidate's health. Trump also discussed his health during a taping of "The Dr. Oz Show", a television talk show.

"I think that some of that would be left to some of the party leadership", Sanders said.
