Browns Fire Head Of Personnel Sashi Brown; Head Coach Hue Jackson Safe

Hue Jackson remains, though, and the announcement of Sashi Brown's dismissal included the note that he would be coach of the Browns next regardless of who is brought in as the team's new personnel decision-maker. That was the only firing Jimmy Haslam administered Thursday, though, as the Browns' owner announced Hue Jackson will remain the team's coach in 2018.

Who might take the job for the Browns, who have a 4-40 record since the start of the 2015 season?

The Browns are 0-12 this season and 1-27 since Jackson was hired in 2016.

"We have great appreciation and gratitude for Sashi's commitment and leadership to our organization but believe transitioning to someone with strong experience and success in drafting and building consistently winning football teams is critical to the future of the Cleveland Browns", Jimmy Haslam said in a statement.

Brown had final say on the team's roster, and Haslam may bring in an executive with more National Football League experience.

The NFL season is nearing a close, which only can mean one thing: It's time for the Cleveland Browns to fire someone. This strategy has acquired the Browns many picks but has also passed on the likes of Carson Wentz and Deshaun Watson.

Brown had no experience in evaluating players as he primarily handled the team's salary cap before he was promoted. Comparisons are already being made between Sashi Brown and former Philadelphia 76ers executive Sam Hinkie in that the two men began lengthy rebuilds they were not able to finish but, for now, what is public knowledge is that Brown will not be leading the Browns into 2018 and beyond.

It's not yet clear if Haslam plans to retain chief strategist Paul DePodesta and player personnel director Andrew Berry.

The Browns host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
