'It' Star Jack Dylan Grazer Joins DC Superhero Film 'Shazam!'

Young actor Jack Dylan Grazer, who turned in a knockout performance as Eddie Kaspbrak in the recent film version of Stephen King's It, has joined the cast of the upcoming DC Entertainment movie Shazam!

Shazam is a DC Comics character who first debuted in 1939 with the original name of Captain Marvel. If accurate, Grazer would join a cast which includes Zachary Levi as Captain Marvel and Asher Angel as Billy Batson. Shazam himself is the alter-ego of teenager Billy Batson who has the ability to say the word "Shazam", and transform into an adult superhero with the power of six mythological gods after saying the word.

Mark Strong is also in talks to star as the villain of the film. Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke have penned down the script for the flick. At one point in time, the wizard Shazam was killed and Freeman actually took up the role of Captain Marvel after Batson was forced to take the wizard's place in the Rock of Eternity. I am beside myself with gratitude, not only for this opportunity but also the incredible outpouring of love and support from so many of you out there in the world. It would be interesting to see how the standalone origin film will set out an arc for Dylan's future Captain Marvel, Jr. Dwayne Johnson is attached to play Black Adam in that pic.
