London Mayor Sadiq Khan arrives in Pakistan

London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who is now on a goodwill visit to promote his "London is Open" campaign to Pakistan, is expected to arrive in Karachi Thursday evening.

He wrote, "The Pakistani community makes a tremendous contribution to our city".

In reply, Shehbaz Sharif also thanked Sadiq Khan for his visit to the country.

The London mayor is accompanied by a team of British IT executives, who have been meeting politicians, investors and entrepreneurs in Pakistan and India to strengthen trade links with both countries.

I fully appreciate the real disappointment that many Indians have felt about the British Government's decision to make it more hard for Indians to gain visas to work and study in the UK.

All this traffic can travel direct with a non-stop British Airways flight between London-Amritsar, according to the memorandum, adding that this would lead to a major increase in business apart from making British Airways more popular among the large Punjabi population settled all over the world.

"After celebrating 70 years of Pakistan this year, I look forward to the next 70 years to celebrate the friendship between London and Pakistan".

Calling Lahore a thriving business centre, he said the provincial capital has "great potential for London businesses". "I love Pakistan and am aware of the challenges faced by the country".

He shared: "Like London, culture is the DNA of Lahore - it's the glue that binds the city together". The delegation was received by Lahore Mayor Colonel (retd) Mubashir at the border.
