Rajasthan 'Love Jihad' case; man burnt alive, accused arrested

Accused has been arrested and a special investigation team (SIT) has been set up for investigation in the case: Gulab Chand Kataria, Rajasthan Home Minister on incident in Rajsamand where a man was burnt to death. The home minister told ANI: "The video is gut-wrenching".

Mohammed Bhatta Sheikh, a resident of West Bengal, was allegedly killed to "stop him from Love Jihad"- a term publicised by the Hindutva groups to refer to Muslim men marrying Hindu women and converting them to Islam.

Shambhu Lal took Afrazul to an agriculture farm, just 700 meters from the Rajsamand district collector office.

As per various media reports, the half-charred body has been identified as that of 48-year-old Mohammed Afrazul, who hailed from Malda. A team of FSL, dog squad was summoned. However, Afrazul's identity remained unknown till the video surfaced on social media.

Agriculture equipment used in the murder and the dead man's bike and slippers were found from the location of the murder.

The Rajasthan Police in Indian arrested an unemployed man who in a series of video clips was purportedly seen hitting and stabbing a Muslim man, burning the body and warning "jihadis" to leave India or meet a similar fate.

Surprisingly, in another video, which is also going viral, Raigar, is seen justifying his act.

An attempt was made to burn the victim by pouring kerosene on him. I want them to suffer in the same manner. "Yesterday, at around 3 pm, we received a call from Rajasthan Police and were told that my husband has been murdered", Afrzul's wife, Gul Bahar Bibi, was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

"We would also like to state that there have been many incidents where Muslims have been attacked as part of hate crimes and not been killed so the number of incidents are huge", the statement said.
