The Marvel Podcast Universe Begins With Wolverine: The Long Night

Marvel New Media and Stitcher recently announced Wolverine: The Long Night, the first-ever 10-episode Marvel scripted podcast. You can see them in movies or live shows, or read them in comics, but soon Marvel will be telling a new story in a brand new way.

While the announcement marks Marvel's first foray into the ever-growing world of podcasts, The Hollywood Reporter notes that it isn't the first time the comic book giant has had a brush with the audio-only format. Instead, Wolverine will be voiced by Richard Armitage, who played Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit trilogy.

Joining Armitage in the podcast series are Celia Keenan-Bolger and Ato Essandoh as the voices of the agents Sally Pierce and Tad Marshall. Described as a "hybrid of mystery and the larger-scale fantasy", the show has managed to attract a few big-name actors.

"Because he's been mind-wiped again and again, he doesn't know the whole awful truth about his life".

The agents team up with deputy Bobby Reid (Andrew Keenan-Bolger) to investigate their prime suspect, Logan (Richard Armitage).

"It's very easy to turn up the volume on reality there". And some of them have to do with Wolverine as his legend grows in this area, as people observe him bounding through the mists with packs of wolves; as they witness him save and end lives. There is a compound set up outside of the town of Burns, Alaska, where the Aurora cult is located. The podcast also features the voices of Chris Gethard, Scott Adsit, Bob Balaban, Jordan Bridges, Michael J. Burg, David Call, Zoe Chao, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Chaske Spencer and Lannon Killea. Chloe Prasinos, who was formerly a producer for Gilmet's "Reply All", will oversee sound design. On top of that, they're hoping the finished product is just the beginning of an interconnected Marvel Podcast Universe.

Marvel is known to tell compelling stories with fascinating characters using all different kinds of mediums.
