PPF NSC, KVP, Post Office: The centre Government has made it necessary to linking of Aadhaar number to post office account, PPF, NSC, and KVP whose the last date is 31 December of this year.

There are also a number of other benefits of linking your mobile phone number with your Aadhaar.

UIDAI asked people not to get misled by an outdated video doing rounds in the social media and Whatsapp and said "people should instead verify their banks accounts, investment accounts, SIM cards, etc as per the current laws and deadlines as early as possible to avoid any inconvenience". The Centre told the three-judge bench that it will extend the deadline for those who did not apply for the Aadhaar card yet and do not possess any id proof.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra was informed by Attorney General K K Venugopal that the Centre was willing to extend the deadline of 31 December to 31 March next year for linking of Aadhaar with various services and schemes. Aadhaar will also be made mandatory to open bank account or to secure loans.

The Income Tax Act was amended in March 2017 to make Aadhaar mandatory for PAN cards.

As the case is pending in the Supreme Court, the government is not enforcing the provision, the official said.

Keep in mind, that once the Aadhaar-PAN linking is done, you can e-Verify your IT returns using Aadhaar if your mobile is registered with Aadhaar.
