Ed Sheeran awarded MBE by Prince Charles

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire rewards contributions to the arts and sciences.

According to the Clarence House's Twitter account, he was given the royal honor for his "services to music and charity".

The investiture ceremony went rather better than Ed's last brush with royalty too, as he was left needing stitches after an incident at a party held at the home of Charles' younger brother Prince Andrew in November 2016. "Yeah, why not", he quipped with a grin.

Recently, it was announced that Ed had topped two of YouTube's trending lists for the United Kingdom in 2017 and "Shape of You" came number 2 on the list of most-watched YouTube music videos, coming second to "Despacito".

Sheeran's "New York concert" tomorrow (Dec. 8) is the Z100 Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden.

'I think talent is like 30% of it and persistence, drive and self belief are the other ones, which I guess are all the same thing'.

Sheeran said his secret to his success was persistence.

The "Shape of You" hitmaker, who just picked up two Grammy nominations for his work on his latest album, Divide, took to social media to share the moment with his fans.

Congrats to Sheeran on impressing Buckingham Palace, the United Kingdom, and the world at large with his latest milestone.

The 26-year-old accepted an MBE from Prince Charles earlier today and looked very dapper in a blue-fitted suit.

He also told reporters he was thinking of his grandfather, a "massive royalist", when he received the award.
