Israeli army fires at Hamas post in Gaza, no injuries

Two rockets were fired from Gaza toward southern Israel.

The army said it fired at two targets of "terrorist organizations" in response to three rocket attacks from Gaza earlier on Thursday.

The Israel Defense Forces carried out strikes against Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip on Thursday evening.

At around 6:30 pm sirens sounded in the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council in the northwestern Negev.

The rocket launches on Thursday night came amid unrest in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, after US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital the day before.

Palestinian militants of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's armed wing, stage an anti-Israel parade as part of the celebrations marking the first anniversary of an Israeli army operation in the Gaza Strip on 14 November 2013.

Hundreds of Palestinians protested on Thursday by burning posters of Trump, Israel's prime minister and the Israel and USA flags.

"The IDF holds Hamas responsible for hostile activity perpetrated against Israel from the Gaza Strip", the IDF said in a statement.

Jerusalem's status is among the most hard issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the United States traditional position has been that it must be negotiated between the two sides.
