Jose Mourinho Has Message For Potential Champions League Last 16 Opponents

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has praised Luke Shaw for making "a great contribution" as Manchester United claimed a 2-1 win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.

His performance impressed Fletcher - as well as boss Jose Mourinho - and the former United captain believes the 22-year-old can emerge stronger from his hard spell at Old Trafford and realise his huge potential.

"If you're a defender in that position he's one player you don't want to come up against, especially when he gets you in a wide area in a one-v-one, he can absolutely destroy you".

Jose Mourinho's men have vastly improved this term, and are leading the chasing pack behind Manchester City in the Premier League ahead of this weekend's Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

Manchester United ensured they qualified for the knock-out stage of the Champions League as group winners last night.

'I am not the luckiest guy with draws, it is better I shut up and I forget it because we only play in February, ' he said.

"The team in the second half, they showed the desire of not qualifying with a defeat, we could lose four or five nil and qualify but that was not the objective - the objective was to play well and win and we managed both".

"Half-time we were losing but playing well, I was not unhappy with the players at all". I don't think so.

Mourinho had replaced Van Gaal as Red Devils boss when Shaw finally made his return from his horror injury but the England global failed to convince the Manchester United manager of his fitness and work ethic.

Following this Mourinho's men have a healthy run of winnable fixtures on paper right up until the end of January when they will face Tottenham.
