Our First Proper Look At PUBG's Desert Map

Our First Proper Look At PUBG's Desert Map

Beginning today December 7th, in celebration of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' upcoming launch on Xbox One next Tuesday, December 12th, the first of the three special, limited-edition cosmetic packs that we announced at Paris Games Week - the PUBG Warrior Pack - will become available to fans worldwide. This is the first time the new map was seen in action, and it's a huge moment for the millions playing the game.

The rumor of jet skis making their way into the popular battle royale game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) has been percolating for awhile now, and finally the company behind the online shooter has confirmed that they are indeed bringing the aquatic travel mode in-game. PUBG Corp. also confirmed that the game's 1.0 release on PC will be December 20. Additionally, we got a confirmation that the third wave of testing for the game's launch, which includes the new desert map, will go live tonight at midnight PST.

In the video for the desert map, you can see new techniques like the vaulting and climbing mechanic being put to use, as well as new weapons and vehicles. Do note, that this map will be free to all players.

The map looks to be a polar opposite of the Erangel map, offering "harsh and unforgiving desert" instead of lush fields and forest.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is now in early access on PC, but it will have its full release on December 20th.
