About an inch of snow expected in Lebanon today

The frigid temperatures behind a cold front combined with moisture off the Gulf of Mexico to bring unusual wintry weather to parts of the South. Officials at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which holds the world record for annual number of passengers, said delays and cancellations were expected.

People traveling by auto will also want to pay attention to the storm as it will make for slushy and snow-covered roads in much of New England and in coastal areas of the mid-Atlantic during the first part of this weekend, according to AccuWeather.

The storm has already largely peaked in the South and Southeast, and will scatter late Saturday morning, but western and northern North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia's mountains will see snow for the better part of the day, and may see up to 3 inches more, the Weather Channel reported. Areas south and east of I-195 will see the most snowfall this weekend.

The National Weather Service retains its winter weather advisory for 2 to 4 inches of snow in Philadelphia and adjacent counties on both sides of the Delaware. Temperatures will also dip to near or below freezing for many areas outside of Columbus, arguing for the development of black ice early Saturday morning.

In Georgia, eastern Alabama, and the southern Appalachians, snow is still falling.

Saturday night, new snow accumulation of less than half an inch is possible, with precipitation chances at 30 percent.

Plan on slippery road conditions.

The National Weather Service is still uncertain how intense the snowfall will be. Totals out that way will be 3-5 inches or more.

Light snow is expected to continue for several hours overnight and end by 5:00 AM with lows in the upper 20's.

A winter storm advisory is in effect for the entire county.

"Travel may be hard at times", the National Weather Service said.
