Neymar should consider Real switch - Perez

Madrid president Florentino Perez has added further fuel to the fire by suggesting that Neymar would stand a better chance of winning the Ballon d'Or if he were a Real Madrid player, in what is the biggest hint yet that Real are looking to land the former Barcelona star.

Perez tried to sign Neymar back in 2013 before the Brazilian sealed a move to arch-rivals Barcelona.

He said: "Being in Madrid would make it easier to win the Ballon d'Or".

The world's most expensive player came third in the 2017 Ballon d'Or behind victor Cristiano Ronaldo and former Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi.

Neymar only moved to the Ligue 1 side last summer but has proved to be a huge success with Unai Emery's men, scoring nine goals and contributing six assists in 12 league starts.

Perez made it clear that he won't rush signing Kylian Mbappé, the young talent who joined PSG last summer from Monaco.

"I don't know how many Ballon d'Or winners PSG has had, very few I think", Perez said.

“I feel good this season and well see what we win at the end of the year.”.

Florentino Pérez, the Real Madrid President, spoke to El Larguero on Thuesday evening after attending the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris. Bring Neymar while Mbappé develops?

The 32-year-old was the top-scorer in last seasons Champions League as Real successfully defended the trophy with victory over Juventus in June, and also led the Spanish giants to their first La Liga title in five years.

The Brazil global is yet to displace Messi and Ronaldo, who have dominated the illustrious award for the last decade.

But that was not enough for him to earn the prize, and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo went on to pick up his fifth Ballon d'Or.

"When I finish my career, I will look at the statistics to see if I'm among the best", Ronaldo added.
