LaMelo & LiAngelo Ball Are Close To Signing Deal In Lithuania

LaMelo was supposed to be a junior this season at Chino Hills High School, but his father pulled him out of school with the intent of home schooling him.

If the two teenagers do sign a professional contract, it would mean their only shot to the National Basketball Association would be through Europe, rather than a stint in college.

Prienu Vytautas plays in both the Baltic and the Lithuanian (LKL) league.

After LaMelo Ball and LiAngelo Ball signed with an agent with the intent of playing overseas, Lithuanian club Prienu Vytautas emerged as a potential destination for the Ball brothers.

"We engaged in serious talks with several teams, and Vytautas made the most sense as LaMelo and LiAngelo work to develop as professionals and set a foundation for their careers", Gaines told Yahoo Sports.

LiAngelo and LaMelo are the younger brothers of Los Angeles Lakers rookie guard Lonzo Ball. LiAngelo announced last week that he would not return to the UCLA basketball program.

The Vertical first reported the deal.

In a story published last week by ESPN, Jeff Goodman spoke with LaVar Ball, who said he plans on travelling with the boys wherever they end up, and says two of their uncles will also be taking the trip as well. The show, which streams on Facebook, might need a shot in the arm, to judge from the drop in views from Episode 1 (7.6 million) to Episode 2 (1.1 million). "They have a passion to play Basketball and to experience playing as pros was the Goal".

The language barrier could be an adjustment, but it appears that agent Harrison Gaines has found the most similar personality to LaVar Ball in European basketball.

LaMelo, meanwhile, was pulled out of high school by his father in October.
