Oscar Isaac in talks to voice Gomez in animated 'Addams Family'

But soon the actor will be getting animated for a role that many fans have been wanting to see him tackle for a little while now. The internet has been fancasting Isaac as Gomez for months now, usually with either Ruth Negga or Eva Green as Morticia, and it seems like the sort of role he would totally own.

Conrad Vernon (Sausage Party) will direct from a screenplay by Pamela Pettler (Corpse Bride), with revisions by Matt Lieberman.

Isaac has always been a fan favourite for the role, what with his uncanny resemblance to Raul Julia, who played the Addams patriarch in the last film.

The Addams Family was adapted to television with a beloved 1964-66 ABC comedy starring John Astin and Carolyn Jones. But this will be the first time the Addams clan will be coming to the big screen in animated form. There's no word on who they're considering to voice the other members of the family, since, according to Tracking Board, "MGM is waiting to close its deal with Isaac first before moving on to the rest of the family". It'll be interesting to see if MGM goes with big names for these roles. Since casting has only just started, don't expect it out earlier than 2019.

As announced by Deadline, MGM's impending animated Addams Family film has been stamped with an official (and slightly Halloween-ish) release date.
