Kamala Mills fire: Hotelier held for sheltering 1 Above pub owners

The three absconding owners - Kripesh Sanghavi, Jigar Sanghavi and Abhijit Mankar - were arrested by Mumbai Police from Bandra late Wednesday.

The Sanghvi brothers - Kripesh and Jigar - had been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder after the fire and the police had been on the lookout for the duo.

Yug Pathak, one of the owners of Mojo's Bistro and the son of former Pune police commissioner KK Pathak, was arrested on January 6 in the case.

The police have recorded the statements of at least 70 witnesses and staff members of both the restaurants, including the owner of Kamala Mills.

The Sanghvi brothers, who were on run since the incident, were arrested from Andheri, additional commissioner of police S Jaikumar said. Prakash Wagh, the advocate of the requester, said, Seven members of the same family were present there at the "1 Above" pub when the fire broke out. Earlier in the day, Vishal Karia, arrested for sheltering the Sanghvis, was produced in the Bhoiwada metropolitan magistrate court, which extended his police custody till January 17. Sanghvi brothers and Mankar were absconding for the last two weeks after fire in a building in Kamala Mills Compound, Lower Parel, killed 14 people.

Another co-owner of Mojo's Bistro, Yug Tulli, a Nagpur-based businessman, yesterday filed a pre-arrest bail application before a Mumbai sessions court.

A Mumbai Fire Brigade probe found that the blaze started in The Mojo's Bistro due to burning embers from illegal hookahs being served to patron, and spread to other premises.

The police said that Karia has confirmed that the accused had stayed at his house.
