Kumar Vishwas attacks Kejri after Rajya Sabha rejection

The final decision was taken at the party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting at Kejriwal's residence.

At a press conference, he alleged that the AAP was sending N D Gupta to the Rajya Sabha with the support of the BJP. "I spoke the truth whether it is Arvind Kejriwal's decisions or issues like surgical strike, irregularities in ticket distribution, softness towards extremists in Punjab, JNU incident., for which I have been rewarded in the form of punishment", he said.

AAP leader Kumar Vishwas tore into the party leadership on Wednesday after his claim for a Rajya Sabha candidature was ignored, allegedly because of his "courage to speak the truth".

Senior AAP leader Kumar Vishwas expressed his anger for not being included in Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP's final list of candidates for election to Rajya Sabha. AAP is set to win all the three Rajya Sabha seats now represented by Congress since it has an overwhelming majority in the 70-member assembly. Now I don't know what to say. The first name is Sanjay Singh, Sanjay Singh has worked for the party and society.

Kumar Vishwas, a popular AAP leader, however, appealed to the AAP workers to continue their tirade against corruption and one-upmanship in the party.

But, the party this time made a decision to select candidates from the field of law, economics and social work. The AAP had contacted around 18 eminent personalities from different walks of life, including former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan, former Union minister Arun Shourie, ex-Chief Justice of India TS Thakur and names from the world of cinema.

Thanking his supporters Vishwas said, "I was punished for speaking the truth, and I also know that it is very hard to stay in the party if we have disagreements with you (Kejriwal)". Moreover, today AAP's deputy CM Manish Sisodia chose three members to contest for the Rajya Sabha seats.

Polls for the three seats will be held on 16 January while the last day for filing nominations is 5 January.

Given AAP's strong majority in the Delhi Assembly, it is likely that their candidates will win the Rajya Sabha election. The tenure of the current members - Janardan Dwivedi, Parvez Hashmi and Karan Singh of the Congress - will end on January 27.
