Netflix's 'Altered Carbon' trailer shows a vast cyberpunk world

Based on Richard K. Morgan's celebrated cyberpunk novel of the same name, Altered Carbon looks to be one of Netflix's more promising - if not visually stunning - contributions to 2018's already over-stuffed slate of new shows. The story is centred on Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman and Will Yun Lee), a soldier who resurrects from "death" 250 years later in 2384. Altered Carbon launches globally Friday, February, 2, only on Netflix.

It would be a time when consciousness can be digitized, human bodies are interchangeable, and death is no longer permanent. Takeshi is brought back by Bancroft for the sole objective of uncovering his murder, but it looks like he will be dragged into something deeper and much more complicated. He's a highly trained warrior brought back to solve the murder of Laurens Bancroft (played by The Following's James Purefoy)... and he's hired by Bancroft, who has neatly installed his mind, memories and such into another sleeve.

The fast-paced, murder mystery combines explosive action with mind-boggling sci-fi concepts which could see the Netflix original become one of the most widely watched new shows this year. Explore Altered Carbon with the official Season 1 trailer below.

What did you think about the new trailer for Altered Carbon? The trailer shows a world filled with neon signage lighting up a grim cityscape, multiple glowing-eyed strippers, flying cars weaving around skyscrapers at night, constant rain and even a mad millionaire who would impress the likes of Dr. Eldon Tyrell.

The similarities to "Blade Runner 2049" are hard to miss. "You shed it like a snake sheds its skin". Altered Carbon comes out February 2.
