UEFA Team of the Year revealed

European football's governing body announced its annual Team of the Year on Thursday, after nearly 8.8 million votes were cast by users on UEFA's official website.

Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos was chosen as the second center-back, along with his left-back teammate Marcelo.

Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos was the most popular player in the poll, having been selected in 73.7 per cent of teams with a total 588,315 votes.

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, European champions Real Madrid dominated the UEFA Team of the Year shortlist with 11 nominees, as the Premier League continued to lag behind their Spanish rivals.

In a vote decided by 8.8 million fans, De Bruyne has been recognised for his role in Manchester City's stunning form so far this campaign, with the former Wolfsburg man establishing a reputation as one of the finest creative midfielders in world football at present.

Manchester City's De Bruyne and Chelsea's Hazard are the first Premier League players in the team since 2014 when Angel Di Maria was included while playing for Manchester United.

Thoughts on UEFA's Team of the Year for 2017?

Other Real Madrid players who star in the UEFA Team of the Year include Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo, respectively.
