More women dressed in color on Thursday, but their determination to end gender discrimination remained just as fierce.

"We've been witnessing a movement in our industry and society and I want to share this award with all the women and men who stand for what's right", the actor added as she focused on the shift in the industry as a result of the #MeToo movement. Dern, lest we forget, has been on her own win streak, with Emmy, Globe and Critics' Choice victories as well.

The fantasy thriller was named Best Picture, while Guillermo del Toro picked up the prize for Best Director.

"For everyone that has been [un] equal in working with woman, let me show you who stands here with us and made this movie possible", he said turning to his female colleagues.

But what is looking clearer and clearer to me is that the community loves Shape's director, del Toro, who has won a Golden Globe and a Critics' Choice Award in a matter of five days, and was greeted with great enthusiasm, from voters and his peers, on both occasions.

"Congratulations for doing what you're supposed to do!" I never heard one word along these lines.

James Franco followed up his Golden Globes win on Sunday by picking up Best Actor in a Comedy for The Disaster Artist, but he was a no show at the ceremony.

Also at the Emmys and Golden Globes, social media users notably reacted during Kidman's acceptance speeches when she mentioned her two daughters she has with Keith Urban, and didn't say anything about her two older children that she adopted with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise.

In November, Variety reported that Prince was reportedly in talks to join Jolie in Disney's live-action adaptation of The One and Only Ivan, so we'll be seeing more of her in the coming months.

The next big awards show is going to be the Screen Actors Guild Awards, which are set to be held on January 21, so let's see how politics shapes that red carpet too.
