Girl Scout Cookie Season underway in Abilene

Girl Scout Cookie Season underway in Abilene

"The Girl Scout Cookie Program allows each Girl Scout to discover her interests, take the lead in her community and change the world".

January 12 - or 7 hours, 32 minutes and 35 seconds as of this writing - marks the beginning of Girl Scout cookie presales for Idaho's Girl Scout of Silver Sage Council. In addition, the group will host various events during National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend from February 23 to 25.

If you're not in the San Jacinto area, however, there are plenty of ways to give back while getting your cookie fix this year. (The recipe for the original cookie can still be found on the Girl Scouts website.) The concept behind the cookies was to teach members about business and entrepreneurship while simultaneously raising funds for their troop activities. Wait, what.? Yep, they're warning residents about the ever so addicting Girl Scout Cookie and how the season is in full swing.

Marketing and Communications Specialist Shannon Peterson with Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska says this year's cookie line-up will not only feature everyone favorites, but will also see the return of last year's popular addition. Proceeds from your purchase stay local and help power new experiences for her and every awesome G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader) who sells Girl Scout Cookies!

The 2018 Girl Scout Cookie line-up features S'mores, Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Shortbread, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Thanks-a-Lot, Lemonades (all still $4 per package) and gluten-free Trios ($5 per package).
