John Williams Confirms Return For Star Wars Episode IX

The campaign has also included two other films, which have been collectively viewed by 4 million people: a specially-commissioned look "behind-the-scenes" during filming for The Last Jedi in Ireland in 2015 and 2016, as well as an irreverent promotional film about holidays along the Wild Atlantic Way, also featuring Mark Hamill.

In Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past. Disney then hired J.J. Abrams, who directed "The Force Awakens", to return for "Episode IX".

"Star Wars" actor Mark Hamill wishes the latest instalment of the blockbuster could have been filmed entirely in Ireland. As numerous trailers and even the title of the movie suggest, it was presumed that Episode VIII would showcase jedi master Skywalker passing on his wisdom and guidance to Rey.

Hamill noted that he was shocked to hear that Johnson make his character, normally so full of optimism and hope, become so distant from his past beliefs.

Hamill, who features in those sections of the movie that were filmed in Malin Head, Co.

With all of the creative risks that were taken in this installment, it is clear that the movie constantly demonstrates a theme of leaving the past behind.

With The Last Jedi nearing the end of its theatrical run, we should expect Episode IX to hit theaters December of 2019.

Now that Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been in theaters for almost a month, fans are no longer as anxious about spoilers.
