Lamborghini Urus makes way into India priced at Rs 3 crore

The Raging Bull wasted no time and promptly introduced the Urus in India for a whacking price tag of Rs 3 crores.

Marketed as a super SUV with the underpinnings of a sports vehicle, the Urus is built on the Volkswagen Group's MLB EVO platform, which is shared by the Audi Q7, the Porsche Cayenne and the Volkswagen Tourarg and other cars. "India is one of the first few markets in the world where the Urus is being launched", he added.

It's Lamborghini and you can not expect a run-of-the-mill SUV from them.

Lamborghini claims that the Urus is the fastest SUV ever produced and says it is capable of hitting 100kmph from a standstill in just 3.6 seconds! At the end of the day, the Urus is here to attract a different set of people to the brand - those who are interested in the iconic Italian marque but not its sports auto lineup.

Power comes from a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine that makes 650hp and 850Nm of torque, and is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. On the inside, the new Urus SUV will get 3-spoke steering wheel and a digital cockpit, 2 touch screen interfaces and a drive mode selector on the centre console houses christened as the Adaptive Network Intelligent Management (ANIMA). The SUV could triple Lamborghini's sales in the domestic market. To stop the mammoth beast with confidence, the Urus comes fitted with the biggest brakes fitted on a production SUV.

Interestingly, Lamborghini has launched the Urus in India before China, showing the importance of the country in the company's global plans.
