Man City boss Guardiola: Honour to work with 2-goal Aguero

Man City boss Guardiola: Honour to work with 2-goal Aguero

Not if the 4-1 FA Cup victory over Burnley is anything to go by.

Guardiola believes the comeback bodes well for later in the season and praised John Stones for his reaction to the mistake that led to Barnes' opener. Maybe this was to do with the bigger challenges Premier League Burnley could pose, and the quality from City's strongest team was clear for all to see.

"We had a game plan and I think it worked in the first half, but I think a 10 minute spell from their first killed us a little bit", Barnes added. "We are not going to try and look for a lucky draw, but equally we have to protect our players".

'The manager told me I had to be ready for my chance. Everything I do is for this.

If the unlikely quadruple is going to happen, Guardiola will need every single player in his squad to be playing at their absolute best.

The City midfielder only came back to Manchester on Friday afternoon, less than 24 hours before the cup tie.

"We know they have to start to open up and that can leave them open to the counter, but then it gets to a moment where, I imagine, the rules are probably in the referee's favour".

"Before the game Fabian gave me advice". 'We are there as well as other teams because Chelsea are in the same position. City, who last tasted defeat in domestic competition in their FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal in April, were level in the 56th minute when Aguero fired home from Ilkay Gundogan's pass.

"To become a big club like the teams I've faced, or United, or Liverpool with their history, you have to win. Now he's going back to Spain and he'll be back when he feels good, we are happy because everything is going well". But nobody can take away what we've done so far.

"Nobody can take away what we've done so far. If they were offended, I am sorry".

'We have to lift titles in the future. Sergio Aguero, who had ineffectively ambled through the first half, scored twice in 94 seconds; Leroy Sane added a sumptuous third and set up the fourth for Bernardo Silva, and with that Burnley's resilience was cracked.

"He will be down, he didn't play any more, he didn't defend well?"

"You do need your breaks against the big sides".
