"I encourage myself to say hey I believe in our rights and our freedoms and our independence as one human race not separated by color", said Amyra Jones.

"You see that with everything from the National Football League protests to [the 2016] presidential election to the ongoing debate about immigration reform".

Community leaders are scheduled to speak about the teachings and philosophies of Martin Luther King, Jr., Saturday at an event hosted by Youth Action Project, a San Bernardino nonprofit for young adults.

Joining Trump at the podium was Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson and Isaac Newton Farris Jr., King's nephew.

Some in the worldwide community questioned Trump's view of different races after he reportedly made controversial comments about Haiti and African nations. "But I don't think he is a racist in the traditional sense".

"Why are we having all these people from s-hole countries come here?" Of course, this comes one day after allegations he used vulgar language to describe African countries - an allegation the president denies. Reflections on Dr. King's life and the civil rights struggle will be presented by Kay Dowell Lomax, Deacon Russel Howell and Rev. Matt Farley. Trump ignored Ryan's question and immediately left the room.

But, as reporters in the Netherlands demonstrated this week, asking politicians who make offensive statements to account for their remarks can be a public service, by at least attaching some sort of social embarrassment to making such comments.
