Versace TV Murder Series Treats Family With Kindness, Producer Says

The Versace family has neither authorized nor had any involvement whatsoever in the forthcoming TV series about the death of Mr. Gianni Versace. The Versace family released the following new statement Wednesday morning, likely in response to executive producer Ryan Murphy's statements Tuesday defending the authenticity of the newest installment of American Crime Story. We stand by the meticulous reporting of Ms Orth. The FX show details the designer's murder, with Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace, Édgar Ramírez as Gianni Versace and Darren Criss as serial killer Andrew Cunanan.

Cunanan was found dead in a Miami houseboat eight days later, apparently shooting himself with the same gun that killed Versace.

Donatella also said in the interview that among the mistakes in the book was the assertion that Gianni had been weak at the time of his murder because he had AIDS. "In her lurid claims, she ignores contrary information provided by members of Mr. Versace's family".

The first season, The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story, was released on BBC Two on February 15, 2016 after the initial U.S. release of February 2.

The all-star cast sees Penélope Cruz take on the role of the iconic Donatella Versace, the sister of Gianni who fights to keep her brother's legacy alive after his death.

She was particularly concerned about how her children Allegra and Daniel will be depicted, according to. "They are very close friends", he said.

'I didn't want to do an imitation of Donatella, or a caricature, ' she told.

"I hope it strikes a chord with a lot of people". I have to admit, I watched the Ford Bronco being chased live on television for it was all that was on. From that place of devastation, she had to keep this company going in his honor. But Orth said she was "reassured" that titillation wasn't American Crime Story's aim.

After seeing images of the scene after Versace, 50, was gunned down the Brindisi born D'Amico chose to speak out about its apparent 'poetic license'.

Instead, D'Amico says he was barely able to look at bloodied Versace's body after he was shot as he returned to Casa Casuarina on Ocean Drive after buying a newspaper at a nearby cafe on the 15 July 1997. "I felt, my God, I talked to over 400 people". At that point, everything went dark. A few feet away, tourists are soaking napkins in his puddled blood, then sealing them in plastic bags, artifacts of the True Cross for the 20th century's most heartfelt religion, the cult of celebrity.

The second season of Ryan Murphy's anthology series, which premieres January 17, examines the death of the famed Italian fashion designer - but his family wants viewers to know that the series "should only be considered a work of fiction", adding that much of the story has been sensationalized and is based on "second-hand hearsay".
