We did everything but score - Zidane unable to explain Madrid loss

The two Real Madrid stars participated in the normal training session for the first team on Friday at the Ciudad Deportiva de Valdebebas, prior to a press conference held by Zinedine Zidane.

"I'm exhausted of hearing about how badly we're playing", the Frenchman said ahead of a La Liga match against Villarreal on Friday.

Madrid soared to new heights in 2016-17, winning La Liga and becoming the first team to successfully defend their Champions League crown last season.

"It is great to speak in a negative way about Real Madrid as it sells better". It started the year by defeating second-division club Numancia 3-0 in the Copa del Rey, but then was held by Celta Vigo to 2-2 in the Spanish league and couldn't manage more than another 2-2 against Numancia in the return leg of the Copa at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Real were finding it tough to break down the Villarreal defence and introduced Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez for the final 20 minutes. I keep thinking about it because there are many points left, but logically every time we do not win the chances are much lower. We are still alive in all competitions and we have to keep moving forward. It has never been able to overcome this big of a gap and win La Liga.

Villarreal have had an up and down stretch over their past six games.

American followers can also get the game with free seven-day trial on fuboTV.

"We know the situation, we have the Copa, and the Champions League in a month", Zidane said.

Asked if his team were too predictable tactically, Zidane returned to the idea of his team making plenty of chances to score but not taking them. "In hard moments we need the fans to be on our side".
