Zimbabwe's Charamba reveals soured relations between himself and Grace Mugabe

"The visit is being conducted in the interest of further strengthening existing excellent bilateral relations between Namibia and Zimbabwe and to consider new possible areas of cooperation." it said.

The initiative is meant to legitimize the ongoing political transition in Zimbabawe following the resignation of long-serving former president Robert Mugabe in November, 2017, at the insistence of the ruling Zanu PF party and the subsequent swearing in of Mnagagwa on Nov 24 as interim president.

But Malawi Government spokesperson Nicholas Dausi has said it is not true that Moyo is in the country.

"Every right-thinking Zimbabwean would like to see the restoration of constitutionalism and legitimacy in Zimbabwe", he said.

That was widely seen as a reference to Mugabe's wife Grace and supporters of her apparent desire to succeed the 93-year-old statesman - efforts that riled many in the military establishment.

Mugabe's nephew, Patrick Zhuwao recently claimed during an interview with Voice of America that his uncle was being "ill-treated" by Mnangagwa's government.

"We know that when Mnangagwa and Chiwenga went to Morgan Tsvangirai's house they pretended that they were concerned about his health but we know they wanted to negotiate with him to postpone elections for at least three years", he alleged.

Told that Mnangagwa has promised to hold free and fair elections this year, Moyo insisted that the new Harare regime would not dare hold a credible ballot.

"If anyone out there thinks that Zimbabweans are going to embrace the coup and entrench these leaders ... right now the cabinet ... is led by the most feared people in the history of this country".
