Andy Cole urges Jose Mourinho to break the bank for Alexis Sanchez

According to a Daily Mail report, Manchester United are prepared to make Alexis Sanchez the Premier League's first £350,000-a-week player - with Jose Mourinho pledging to pay for it by sacrificing summer bids for Antoine Griezmann and Gareth Bale.

Sanchez was expected to seal his move to Manchester City next summer, but United's intervention may be an attempt to change the tide of momentum flowing towards their local rivals in a season when they are running away with the Premier League title.

Arsene Wenger has since noted that nothing has been decided regarding Sanchez but Gianluca di Marzio claimed on Friday that United were leading the race to secure his signature after Pep Guardiola refused to improve his offer of £20m.

"He's being vague. We have left him at home because of the situation", Wenger said after arriving at Bournemouth.

Brazilian outlet Universo Online, as quoted by the Sun, is reporting that the Bordeaux midfielder is wanted by a number of clubs, including both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, and as well as Manchester United. This being said, Wenger said that the former Udinese and Barcelona attacker still hasn't made up his mind about his immediate future. Hours back Liverpool were seen as one of the potential buyers but now once again it has all come down to the two Manchester giants.

"Don't read too much into it because even I don't know which way it will go". In the 35th minute, Danny Welbeck's shot was saved by keeper Asmir Begovic but if the Arsenal striker had gone to ground under the challenge of Simon Francis, he may well have won a penalty.

Arsenal broke the deadlock seven minutes after the restart.
