CES 2018: Google announces Assistant for Smart Displays, Android Auto and more

Assistant for Android Auto will perform actions like controlling your smart home, play music from Spotify or Google Play Music, get directions from Google Maps or Waze and send and receive messages from services like WhatsApp, among other things. Along with these devices also a list "smart displays" were displayed. Sometimes it's better to see the answers as well as hear them when you ask for information.

The smaller model is expected to cost $200 and the larger one is $250. Pricing and availability are still unknown but we're expecting more details will be shared in the coming days.

Alexa is already included in the next-gen Android Tv devices like the AirTv Player, Xiaomi, LG U+, and Skyworth. The line between smart speaker and smart hub continues to blur.

Time Inc. recounts their early preview of Lenovo's Smart Display, noting that those the device looks like a traditional tablet, you won't interact with it through the use of apps.

LG's Smart Display is set to have an 8-inch touchscreen enabled panel (we don't know the resolution yet, but it's most likely HD).

In terms of features, it's similar to Lenovo's offering.

According to PCMag, the integrations will work a little differently, depending on whether you're using Alexa or Assistant. The JBL Link View's stereo speakers could do just that. They say it will be available on their website and in certain stores starting summer 2018, but we're not really sure how much it will cost. It's the cheapest option, for the moment, at $129. You got to check out this video right now! On Tuesday, the search giant had a few announcements to make which included its plans to expand Assistant this year and a new product called Google Pay.

They all run Google Assistant, which means they all have the same features. Though Google released a cheaper version of its smart speaker, the Google Home Mini, late past year, Amazon's aggressive promotions of the discounted Echo Dot are believed to have made it the holiday sales victor.
