Mary J. Blige Honored With Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Blige came to fame with her multi-platinum 1992 debut album What's the 411? which included the hit Real Love.

Born in the Bronx, Blige signed with Uptown Records in 1989 and became the label's youngest and first female artist at the age of 18. "Dee Rees helped save my life and gave me the strength I did not know I had". He also applauded how Blige, who has sold over 50 million albums, "moves people with not just with her voice but with who she is". The singer and actress were supported by her longtime friend, Diddy and record producer, Andre Harrel who both gave handsome speeches about her. "Whatever she is going through, she knows she has a responsibility for those going through the same thing", Combs said. She received best supporting actress Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations for her portrayal of the wife of a 1940s MS tenant farmer (Rob Morgan) in last year's period drama "Mudbound".

The Grammy Award-winning artist and Golden Globe nominee was greeted by fans singing "Happy Birthday" as she posed for pictures. Regardless of what was being said about me.

"We had love in our home, but negativity and confusion was happening around us outside", she said at the Walk of Fame ceremony. And we learned how to survive. But I thank God for this moment. "There's been times that, in my career, that I didn't even want to step out of my house because I was hurt so bad", she admitted. Everything happens for a reason.
