NAACP President: Trump a 'Racist, He's Demonstrated That'

"I can not believe that in the history of the White House, in that Oval Office, any president has ever spoken the words that I personally heard our president speak".

President Donald Trump has slammed a bipartisan immigration deal proposed by six senators to protect young "Dreamer" immigrants in the United States, calling it a big step backward.

Trump insisted he "never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country".

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Sen.

He also said: "Sadly, Democrats want to stop paying our troops and government workers in order to give a sweetheart deal, not a fair deal, for DACA". Part of what makes America so special is that we welcome the best and brightest in the world, regardless of their country of origin'.

South Carolina Republican Sen.

Durbin said, "We have seven days and the clock is ticking".

"Africans and Haitians come from "shithole" countries?".

As Durbin was describing for the president which immigrants with the protected status would receive relief under the diversity visa program, he mentioned a few examples, including Haiti. "Apparently President Trump has to open a book to learn about Haiti". Diallo emigrated to the USA from Gambia as a teen. The largest group, he told the president, is from El Salvador, the second largest is Honduran, and the third is Haitian.

And he wrote: "I have a wonderful relationship with Haitians".

His comments which also suggested the U.S. should instead focus its immigrant entry policy on countries such as Norway has been criticised by worldwide organisations including the United Nations and African Union, politicians and other Africans and Caribbeans.

President Trump is taking to Twitter amid the backlash over comments he reportedly made to lawmakers in the Oval Office.

If this one had been recorded, who do you think would be telling the truth? These are black people. "America deserves better, and when I'm governor, I'll protect immigrant families and make IL a welcoming state for all". "We know he's a racist, he's demonstrated that".

But she said it's proof Trump and many others are misinformed about the contributions many Haitians have made to their communities.

Many of those troops are based at a USA base in the East African country of Djibouti. "We should bring in more people from places like Norway", he added.

Trump's reported use of the phrase has been roundly condemned with the Spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Rupert Colville, saying: "You can not dismiss entire countries and continents as "shitholes".
