Rex Burkhead, Mike Gillislee Not Expected To Play For Patriots Vs. Titans

The Patriots will play host to the Titans at 8:15 p.m. ET. Gillislee, who is second on the Patriots with 383 rushing yards, has been dealing with a knee injury he suffered December 24 against the Bills.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Burkhead and fellow running back Mike Gillislee will both miss the team's playoff opener against the Tennessee Titans.

In 10 games, Burkhead's averaged 11.5 FanDuel points on 9.4 touches per game this season. Running back James White (ankle), meanwhile, is expected to play, per reports. "But when you get good news, it helps you to look forward to these games a little better". Although both backs practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, they are listed as questionable on the injury report. Prior to Week 16 against the Bills, Gillislee was sidelined for six straight games - five as a healthy scratch and one due to illness. Dealing with a shoulder issue, Hogan missed seven of the final eight games of the season.

Besides Burkhead and Gillislee, two other key New England players are inactive: defensive tackle Alan Branch (knee) and wide receiver Kenny Britt. Burkhead not only rushed for 264 yards and five touchdowns, but he also recorded 254 receiving yards and caught three touchdowns.
