Auburn has found its new athletic director

AUBURN | University president Steven Leath told trusted advisors in December that he was more interested in strong candidates than familiar résumés during the school's search for a new athletic director.

After spending the last five years reshaping University at Buffalo Athletics, athletics director Allen Greene appears to be on his way out.

Greene, who has served as Buffalo's AD since 2015, has made major strides for the school's athletic program, including raising funds for an $18 million indoor football practice facility. We will bring you the latest as soon as it becomes available. He played baseball at Notre Dame and played in the New York Yankees farm system for several seasons. He took over the athletic department from Danny White, who left to be the athletic director at Central Florida.

White, now the athletic director at Duke, helped Greene get a job in development at Ole Miss.

Prior to his work in Buffalo, Greene worked at the University of Mississippi. According to Buffalo's website, "a hallmark of Greene's tenure is the soon-to-be constructed $18M indoor practice facility that has been on the docket for almost two decades".

The 40-year-old Greene served as deputy athletic director and a senior associate athletic director at UB under Danny White - now the AD at UCF - for three years and has an accomplished background in fundraising.
