Watch The Thrilling New Trailer For TOMB RAIDER Starring Alicia Vikander

Oscar-winner Vikander looks pretty kick-ass in the lead role, throwing herself into all kinds of danger in set-piece after set-piece, as she follows in the footsteps of her dead father (West), which eventually brings her to a majestic and unsafe island, populated by risky men (headed by Goggins) who have spent years looking for the same treasure that brought Lara to these shores. Here's hoping that propulsive Destiny's Child remix makes it into the finished movie.

Based primarily on the 2013 rebooted video game, "Tomb Raider" follows a 21-year-old Lara Croft as she embarks on a risky mission to an island off the coast of Japan that could hold clues about her father (Dominic West), who disappeared in a remote locale seven years earlier.

Alicia Vikander, who stars as Lara Croft in the upcoming remake of Tomb Raider, is about to join an illustrious crowd of women now crushing it as lead characters in a genre of film typically dominated by men.

Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen.

It continues: "Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can't understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death".

The second official trailer for Tomb Raider has now dropped, with the new clip delving deeper into the plot of the film. But her mission will not be an easy one; just reaching the island will be extremely treacherous.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, Tomb Raider is the story that will set a young and resolute Lara Croft on a path toward becoming a global hero.

Arriving in cinemas March 16. If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name Tomb Raider.

In addition to Vikander in the lead role and West as Lara's dad, the movie stars Walton Goggins, Hannah John-Kamen, Kristin Scott Thomas, Nick Frost, and Daniel Wu.
