Trump Appointee Resigns Over Bigoted Comments on Talk Radio

As host of the radio program "Sound of Freedom", on Internet talk radio, Higbie made shocking comments about black Americans, Muslims, women, LGBT people, veterans suffering from PTSD and immigrants. The comments were unearthed in an investigation by CNN's KFile.

In a December 2013 appearance, Higbie suggested black women think "breeding is a form of government employment", CNN uncovered.

"Of the 25 or so white people that came by, not a single one asked me to help load the firewood in their vehicle, to do anything for them, to split it for them, or anything", Higbie said. Addressing listeners of "Sound of Freedom", he added: "Every other black person was rude..." They wanted me to either load the wood, completely split it for them or some sort of you know assistance in labor. "What's so wrong with wanting to put up a fence and saying, "Hey, everybody with a gun, if you want to go shoot people coming across our border illegally, you can do it fo" free, '" Higbie said. "It's a lax of morality".

In going for the gold of the "racist things to say or believe" Olympics, Higbie said that he was somehow bothered by the term "African Americans". You cross my border, I will shoot you in the face. "That's another thing that just sets me off". "'Carl, you're racist, you can't, you're sexist.' I'm like, Jesus Christ, I just don't like Muslim people because their ideology sucks", he says in one excerpt, describing Islam as "the ideology of a child molester". In one episode in 2013, he said USA citizens with guns should be allowed to shoot undocumented immigrants at the border. "You know, I don't like gay people".

Mr Higbie was appointed by Mr Trump to be the external affairs chief at the CNCS agency in August 2017. The non-profit organization, according to its website, connects volunteers with service opportunities across the world in the areas of disaster services, economic opportunities, etc.

Higbie was appointed to the CNCS past year to "direct the public image" of the federal department that handles the government's volunteer services including Americorps.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Higbie's resignation.

In a statement, CNCS spokesperson Samantha Jo Garfield said Higbie has stepped down from his position with the department. Never heard of the office of the Corporation for National and Community Service?

Higbie, a former Navy SEAL and conservative media personality, was a surrogate for Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, appearing on cable news and serving as the spokesman for the Trump-aligned Great America PAC.
