We Will Beat Nigeria At CHAN 2018, Says Libya Coach

The coach Salisu Yusuf tutored side labored to a lone goal victory on Friday against hitherto table toppers, Libya.

As a result, Libya are sitting at the top of the Group C standings with three points from one game.

The CHAN trophy is the only elusive major trophy for Nigeria in Africa.

Faleye capitalised on the ball-watching Libyan defence before putting the ball past Muhammad to give Nigeria a 1-0 victory.

In third position are Libya on three points, while Equatorial Guinea are bottom with no points.

The score was 0-0 at half-time following a tightly contested first-half with both teams looking very organized at the back.

But the first remarkable moment only came in the 55th minute, when Faleye, operating from the left wing, sent an inviting cross into the vital area, but Emeka Ogbuh's header did not trouble Libya's goal -tender.

However, where the Super Eagles' opening-day draw against Rwanda was down to missed opportunities, Friday's game was more about a lack of them.

In the 79th minute, Faleye slammed home from an Osas Okoro's corner kick, taking the Super Eagles to four points and ahead of the Libyans.

Nigeria were finding it hard to penetrate the Libyan defence which was marshalled by Ahmed El Trbi, who put his body on the line in the 40th minute - blocking Stephen Eze's thunderous long-range shot.

This was after Emeka Ogbugh forced Libya keeper Muhammad Nashnoush into a good save with a header after some good work by Faleye.
