We Happy Few has been delayed

Not all of the news today is bad however, as Compulsion Games also revealed a part of the narrative for the second main character, Sally. In a candid Youtube video, the team said the reason for the delay is to give them a chance to rebuild the first few hours of the game. A new release date was set for April 13, 2018, alongside a major price hike that doubled the original cost of the game from USD$30.00 to USD$60.00.

We Happy Few has been in Early Access since its release in June 2016, and as such, many have been hoping to see the full release of the game for over a year and a half.

In the video, Sam Abbott, Chief Operating Officer, and Laume Provost, Creative Director, explain the reasoning for the delay.

The game's scope has been increased to include a full-length story campaign, three playable characters, and more than 250 unique encounters. After reviewing the game in its entirety, the team decided that the beginning hours of the game were lacking the "moments that are memorable, very amusing, and super weird". We'll continue working to make sure 1.0 is great and something you'll be happy buying. As such, Arthur's initial story and the game's first few areas have been reworked, as detailed in the update video below, but this will result in the twisted psychedelic survival game being delayed from April to Summer 2018. Given all the content we have yet to reveal to the public, we can see their point. In addition, as a response to complaints regarding the title's price hike, Compulsion has made a decision to disable further preorders of the game and is offering to refund the price paid by any gamer who purchased the Early Access version of We Happy Few.

Of course, those player happy with their Early Access purchase will still be able to play the current build, and will still receive the full, final version of the game upon its release. Sales will be re-enabled closer to release, "when more info and materials on the game will have been released, giving players more clarity on what they can expect in the full version of We Happy Few".
