Arsenal confident £170000-a-week Aubameyang will sign after BVB axe

Arsenal confident £170000-a-week Aubameyang will sign after BVB axe

Despite his actions off the field, Aubameyang is hot property, having scored 31 Bundesliga goals last season and 13 in 15 league games so far this term.

The Gabon global is hotly tipped to move to the Emirates Stadium this month as some form of replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who himself looks to be on the move this winter.

Olivier Giroud is set to move to Borussia Dortmund as part of the deal that takes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal, claims the Daily Mirror.

Aubameyang was dropped for Dortmund's draws with Wolfsburg last Sunday and at Hertha Berlin on Friday after failing to attend a team meeting, and the club say he has lacked "focus" in training. "If he can help, he can offer himself up again".

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger suggested during his press conference on Thursday that Aubameyang would be a good addition to his squad, which prompted Dortmund coach Michael Zorc to label him "disrespectful".

The former Real Madrid manager believes the Gunners should "think twice" before bringing the Gabon global to the Emirates amid concerns about his discipline. Meanwhile, the want-away forward was seen playing five-a-side with his mates at the same time. It was a very important match and we have so many quality players that I chose another one. "That's hard. So that's why I chose to leave him out", Wenger confirmed in his post-Palace press conference.

Dortmund clearly missed Aubameyang's pace to create goalscoring opportunities against Hertha's well-organised defense.

Aubameyang trained hard alongside Dortmund's reserves for an hour on Saturday.

The Gabon striker has been eager to get out of Dortmund for a while, and has been throwing strops for a while.

The former Chelsea man also reserved some praise for English youngster Jadon Sancho, who made his second Bundesliga start in Berlin.

The draw leaves Dortmund third as Stoger remains unbeaten in his four league games in charge.
