Mo'Nique accuses Netflix of gender and race pay gaps

Mo'Nique wants folks to boycott Netflix after claiming the platform offered her much less than white and male comedians.

She said on Instagram that she was offered a cool half million to tape a special for Netflix. Her problem specific with the streaming service, she says is because Netflix offered comedians like Amy Schumer and Dave Chappelle $11 million and $20 million for comedy specials while only offering her, a Black woman, $500,000.

"Then we asked them, 'What is it about Amy Schumer?' And they said, 'Well, she sold out Madison Square Garden twice, and she had a big movie over the summer'".

She ends the video by saying that Netflix told her team that Mo'Nique was a legend. "However, I should get more, ' and Netflix agreed".

That would place Chappelle's deal on par with the reported $40 million deal Chris Rock secured with Netflix last month for two comedy specials.

According to The New York Post's Page Six, the comedian is making a total of $60 million for delivering three comedy specials to the streaming company in 2017.

"Is that not Amy Schumer's resumé?" she asked.

A Netflix spokesperson told that Netflix does not comment on contract negotiations.

The latest ruckus isn't Mo'Nique's first time stirring the pot.

Mo'Nique won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in that film.

The actress and comedian has previously been about issues involving pay imbalance and her status in the industry, telling the Hollywood Reporter in 2015 that producer Lee Daniels had informed her she'd been "blackballed" in the entertainment business.
