Air Force officer arrested for leaking information to Pakistan's ISI

According to the officials, Marwaha was honey-trapped by two Pakistani agents, he befriended with on Facebook few months ago.

The Delhi Police's special cell unit on Thursday arrested an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer on charges of espionage and passing on classified information to Pakistani intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

"The officer has been charged under the Official Secrets Act", a police official said. The officer shared them regularly on WhatsApp in return for obscene photos, according to sources.

The two allegedly even exchanged intimate messages.

Marwah, who was posted at the Air Force headquarters, was allegedly leaking classified documents to a woman through WhatsApp.

"We have found some objectionable conversations and pictures on his mobile phone", an investigative officer was quoted as saying.

It was discovered by a senior Air Force officer that there was a massive breach of the information by the Group Captain Marwaha. When Marwaha's role was revealed, IAF informed the Delhi Police. The mobile phone of IAF Arun Marwaha has been seized and an FIR has been registered at New Delhi's Lodhi Colony police station following the IAF's complaint after its early probe. The investigators from IAF's counter intelligence wing were also probing whether he was part of a larger espionage ring being run from Pakistan, the sources said.

While police remained tight-lipped, sources confirmed to TOI that Marwaha was produced before the court of Deepak Sehrawat at Patiala House and taken on five days of police remand by the special cell.

The IAF has not commented on the arrest but officials say Marwaha was indulging in certain "unwanted activities" through "unauthorised electronic devices".
