Apple investigating an AirPod explosion

Apple investigating an AirPod explosion

The truly wireless headphones from Apple have been a huge success.

NBC News reported yesterday that "Jason Colon, of Tampa, was listening to a dance mix at the LA Fitness on 4th Street in St. Petersburg when he noticed something odd". Colon told WFLA he was jamming out to a dance mix when white smoke started to billow out from the right pod's chassis.

When he noticed something was up, Colon removed the AirPods from his ears, placed them on a piece of workout equipment, and walked away to get help, according to the report.

"It was already popped", he said. "You can see where it looks like there was flame damage". He further stated that "I don't know what would've happened to my ear. Ear lobe could've been burnt". When he got back, he found that the right AirPod was wrecked.

While we have experienced many situations where devices such as smartphones would blow up, the majority of them were the Galaxy Note 7 devices.

It's not the first time a popular product has gone up in flames. Florida's WFLA TV reports that the man, Jason Colon, was working out at an exercise center when he saw smoke originating from the AirPod in his correct ear. The fact that the AirPods exploded is a major problem for Apple, as it suggests a problem with the manufacturing that could become disastrous if it ended up being a widespread problem.

There will be more to the story, so be sure to stay tuned in for more.

Apple said it was investigating. As for now, what are your thoughts on the AirPods blowing up on a Florida man?

We will keep you updated if any further comment is released by Apple or the user makes any comment on the incident.
