Class 2 student alleges sexual abuse, teacher detained

However, the girl disclosed the matter to her parents, who along with other guardians today staged demonstration in front of school.

"I am of the view that male teachers should not be appointed in all-girls' schools", he said.

The parents tried to assault the accused.

The development triggered angry protests by parents, who gathered outside the school, demanding suspension and punishment for the teacher.

School authorities did not issue any statement till 2 pm but Sudeshna Ray, a member of West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights, said they did not deny the allegation and were "sympathetic to the victim and her family". Nevertheless, the parents have continued their protest outside the school which has disrupted the traffic at Rashbehari Avenue.

"We have taken the teacher with us to the police station", the official said.

Another report in Zee news said that the molestation was going on for nearly a year.

"They are saying the CCTV cameras have been removed because fix work is going on". A local police officer said: "We then chose to take the victim, her parents and the accused out of the school premises". Both the teachers were arrested.

The incident comes nearly two months after the GD Birla sexual harassment case, in which two school teachers were arrested for allegedly trying to rape a 4-year-old child.

They also maintained there was no CCTV camera in the school that is supposed to keep a tab on such incidents from happening.

The same educational incident was also at the centre of another similar incident in 2014.

"When the girl returned home, she was bleeding profusely and had to be treated at a private hospital". The student's mother Friday filed a police complaint after the child was allegedly molested again on Wednesday.
