LG V30s with AI camera said to echo Apple strategy

South Korean electronics giant LG has been rumoured to launch a new smartphone at MWC 2018, to be held at Barcelona. The company has even denied on launching the new LG G7 smartphone in nearby future. A report from mid-January suggested that LG would use the annual trade-show to unveil an upgraded version of the V30 in place of the G7, and more information about this is starting to trickle in. Although unconfirmed, it is entirely possible that LG releases a variant of V30 at MWC with new features and later offers the same features via an update to the existing V30 owners. Today, ETNews has shared some very good news for all the people who have been waiting for the final call from LG. It went on to say that the handset would look like its predecessor V30 in design but feature artificial intelligence (AI) and an LG lens that would enable the users to know the prices of objects in the pictures taken by the device.

The LG V30s doesn't sound like a huge upgrade, but features like LG Lens and 256GB of built-in storage could be nice for folks that are fans of LG or were already thinking about picking up the V30.

LG is definitely late to the game when it comes to AI-powered cameras, especially compared to competitors. If a massive amount of onboard storage is important to you, the V30S will be music to your ears.

There are no other hardware changes expected with this new model, but in terms of software, there is one big addition expected - LG Lens.

If the V30S debuts at MWC 2018, it'll be vying for attention alongside the Samsung Galaxy S9, but it could struggle against that phone if it launches for the rumored $918.

Apart from this, the company may introduce the new LG Lens on the device. This is thought to be a camera with AI features similar to the Bixby Vision camera that is found on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note 8.
