After this introduction we're then given a glimpse of Mike, Sully, and Boo, and Sora's transformation as a monster-version of himself with furry blue skin and spiky hair.

The trailer also showed Rapunzel, who interacts with the world by swinging her hair. In addition to showing off the new world, the trailer also reveals that both Marluxia and Vanitas will play a role in some way.

Developer Square Enix had no comment when contacted about the validity of the screenshots but, it seemed that they were quite plausible due to the quality as well as the number of photos released. Square Enix has been kicking around ideas for Kingdom Hearts III as far back as 2006.

Every time I see a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts III, it reminds me I've still only completed Chain of Memories on the Game Boy Advance like 13 years ago.

At D23 in Japan this morning, Disney unveiled a brand new world and some gameplay details for Kingdom Hearts 3. Development is split into three sections: Early, middle, and late. It didn't confirm what stage the end section is, but Tetsuya Nomura, director of the series, said it was "something he's always wanted to do and put into Kingdom Hearts, ever since the days of working on Final Fantasy". He also stated that "It is bound to surprise everyone". A video featuring the game's new theme song - performed by J-pop megastar Utada Hikaru, as with the original Kingdom Hearts and its sequel - was also revealed.

Square also used the conference to discuss other elements of Kingdom Hearts 3.
