ASUS challenges the Huawei Nova 2i with a smartphone with 4 cameras

The company will be unveiling the Zenfone 5 and the Zenfone 5 max Pro at the MWC 2018, while the flagship Zenfone 5z will launch sometime in June 2018. The phone will be a camera powerhouse with four sensors, two 20-megapixel lenses on the front and two 16-megapixel ones on the rear. All the Zenfone 5 models are expected to come with 18:9 displays on the front. Interestingly, the display will have rounded corners, which is said to be a hard manufacturing process and is usually only found in higher-end models. Now, we already saw the Zenfone 4 series of smartphones released by the company a year ago and now, we have known that the Zenfone 5 series will be announced by the company along with the newer smartphones from Asus in this series.

Another smartphone from the Asus ZenFone 5 series has been leaked by famed tipster Evan Blass through via Twitter. In addition to that, the phone sports a vertical dual-camera setup on the rear which again seems largely inspired by Apple's flagship.

That said, the display on the ASUS ZenFone 5 Lite will have an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. Also, Asus is teasing the design of the Zenfone 5 lineup. Although the phone will come with a notch like the iPhone X's, it won't feature a facial recognition system, rather, the notch will only house the selfie camera, earpiece and other sensors.

On the back, it features glass back design like any other flagships these days along with dual cameras and fingerprint sensor.

ASUS has settled for a micro USB port for the Zenfone Lite and have put the audio jack at the top. The handset could be the more powerful variant of the Zenfone 5 Lite and may run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

ASUS will be announcing its new ZenFone 5 series at MWC 2018.
